Stand on the Word

How to maintain perfect peace

The Principle

Perfect peace is not the absence of trouble—it is the presence of God in the midst of trouble. This peace comes when your mind is stayed (fixed, anchored, focused) on God, not on your circumstances.

The key to maintaining deliverance is not just expelling the spirits, but filling the empty space with God's Word. When you stand on Scripture, you build an unshakeable foundation that the enemy cannot penetrate.

How to Stand

Standing on the Word is an active, daily practice. Here are five steps to help you build an unshakeable foundation:

1

Read the Word Daily

Set aside time each day to read Scripture. Even a single chapter builds your foundation. “Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17).

Start with the Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) or Psalms and Proverbs.

2

Memorize Key Verses

Hide God's Word in your heart so you can recall it when under attack. “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you” (Psalm 119:11).

Start with verses about your identity in Christ and God's promises.

3

Speak the Word Out Loud

When you speak Scripture, you wield the sword of the Spirit (Ephesians 6:17). The enemy cannot stand against the spoken Word of God.

Speak verses over your life, your family, and your situation.

4

Meditate on the Word

Think deeply about what Scripture means. Let it penetrate your heart. “Blessed is the one... whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night” (Psalm 1:1-2).

Chew on a verse throughout the day. Turn it over in your mind.

5

Do the Word

Put Scripture into practice. Be a doer, not just a hearer. “But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves” (James 1:22).

Apply what you read. If it says love your enemies, love them. If it says forgive, forgive.

Practical Application

Here's how to put this into practice immediately after deliverance:

Daily Routine

  • Morning: Read 1-2 chapters of Scripture before starting your day
  • Throughout the day: Recall memorized verses when attacked
  • When lying spirits come: Speak the opposite truth from Scripture
  • Evening: Meditate on one verse before sleep

Stand on the Word: Unshakeable Foundation

“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”

— Isaiah 26:3 (CSB)
